Berlin, 28/19/2009: Stephan Noller, CEO of, Europe’s largest targeting platform, was elected to be the new chairman of the policy committee at IAB Europe, on the 15th October in Brussels. In his new role, Noller will represent the interests of the European internet industry to political committees at the European level and will have an influence on current market developments. A clear focus of his work will be on data protection and privacy. IAB Europe has a membership of around 5000 companies, so representing 90% of internet businesses across Europe. “Given the current debate surrounding data protection and privacy, it is essential to make it clear to politicians that the internet industry in Europe only applies technologies, such as Behavioural Targeting, with the strictest adherence to data protection requirements, constantly mindful of the interests of users. I am convinced that the industry – with certain exceptions – is better than its current image implies. A basis of trust must be created through education and dialogue, both in the political as well as the public arena. The future of online marketing lies in delivering advertising more intelligently than is possible through other media. The industry can not afford to lose this advantage lightly.” said Stephan Noller, CEO of and Chairman of the Policy Committee at IAB Europe.

"IAB Europe is very happy to have won Stephan Noller as Chairman of our Policy Committee. In this position, he represents the internet (advertising) industry in front of the political bodies of the EU. The EU Council of Ministers recently announced to accept the amended ePrivacy directive. Further important decisions, such as the amendment of a general directive for data privacy (1995/46/EG) are to follow and we require a business character to constructively shape this debate", states Alain Hereux, President & CEO IAB Europe.
