We are currently seeking a motivated and committed new

Senior Software Developer

for our Berlin office.

nugg.ad is looking for a new member of is main engineering team to focus on development of it's core product. You should be passionate about writing code to build a highly scalable, web-exposed system and massively parallel data analysis which feeds back into our customer analysis tools and machine learning infrastructure. You should be excited to write elegant, thoroughly tested code in Ruby, Erlang, C, Java and Clojure.

Responsibilities:

• extend and improve the existing online system with a keen eye on reliability, scalability and performance
• write new and extend existing Hadoop MapReduce applications
• Work as a member of an agile, test-driven team, sometimes programming in pairs
• Define new features and products together with input from Statistics, Consulting, Sales teams as part of the team

Requirements:

• Excellent programming skills in Ruby or another dynamic programming language
• Strong command of one functional programming language, preferably Erlang or Clojure
• Willingness to adopt to new technologies and to acquire skills as they become important for solutions to identified problems
• Good understanding of web technologies (HTTP, Cookies, Browsers) and familiarity with Linux/Unix.
• Ability to see the system detail as part of the whole system, and make new development fit in
• Rigorous testing habits on unit, functional, integration and performance level
• Very good knowledge of English language

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of or experience using Erlang
• Hadoop framework for parallel data processing and analysis
• Knowledge of or experience using Clojure, ideally for Hadoop programming
• Experience using C
• Experience using automation of deployment and provisioning
